Holy Spirit

So the last few weeks God has been sharing some stuff with me. It's been interesting to say the least.

When I'm on the net either on Sunday night after church on Monday afternoon Salvo people (mainly younger ones) say to me "Ohhh Aaron guess what... I went to a Pente church last night and got baptized with the Holy Spirit...I got prophesied over, Man the Holy Spirit was SOOOOO real and evident..." The question HAS to be asked, why do so many Salvationists believe that they HAVE to go to ANOTHER church to feel the Holy Spirit or to be prophesied over? Are these NOT gifts from God? If they are (and I'm belivin' that they are!) Then WHY oh why are these gifts from God not being received within The Salvation Army??? Granted these gifts are received at Corps....but why not all of them? I will not go to another church to be baptized with the Holy Spirit of receive prophesies. We believe that we serve and worship a Triune God. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Or if you're Postmodern you might refer to them as Creator, Redeemer & Sustainer. We believe that they are undivided in essence and co-equal in power and glory. - If you don't believe me, check our (The Salvation Army) third doctrine.

I'd really be interested in your thoughts on this....let me know!

Under the blood!!!

It is indeed disappointing that such experiences are not commonplace in The Salvation Army at this point in history. Having said that, they are important for personal spiritual development and growth, and for equipping and annointing for the spiritual work we have to do.

If we cannot get these experiences in our own corps, why should we go without? Are these other denominations not Christians too? Aren't they our brothers and our sisters in Christ Jesus?

The Body of Christ is made of many parts, all with different functions. Why shouldn't we share spiritual resources with one another?

Shaw I dont see that Aaron is saying that you should not go to other churches for this experiences, I guess he is expressing his frustration at the fact that in the most part within The Salvation Army Holy Spirit ministry has for a long time been quenched. I see him saying that "why should we need to go to other churches to receive this blessing?" why cant we get it within our own congregations??

Many SA officers have been persecuted by congregations in the past for ministering within the Holy Spirit Realm however I believe we are in a period of awakening so be patient it will happen again for The Salvation Army.

Unfortunatelly I was one of those who had to go outside of my 'church' to be baptised with the Holy Spirit.

I think 'cos the generations before us was, as I see it, was a 'lost generation' they lost much focus and vision and now we, taking off from them, have a hollow following of God generally in our Corps.

Because of this we need to rebuild the ruins and if this means going to other churches or other denominations to bring God in the form of the Holy Spirit back to the army, I will do that, 'cos I'm sure God hasn't even thought about being finished with the purpose and relevance of the Salvation Army - especially this new generation that is revolutionising the Army and the world.

God is still with His Army, let's rebuild what needs to be rebuilt. Let's put God back on the throne of our hearts - Heart to God, hand to man.

God bless!

Hi Aaron, couldn't resist leaving a comment. Remember me and the times 'round the piano at Perkins Avenue. Praying for you and looking forward to catching up with you one day. We're moving from Wagga to Sale, East Gippsland at Christmas. Hope to get to Werribee a lot more often!
With my love and blessings for your calling,
Heather B.

Stobie!!! Oh i just randomly found your blog. How exciting.
Anyway, to the point. Yes, the army doesn't seem to have much baptising of the spirit (and i believe we are referring here to the speaking in tongues expression of the spirit) or prophesying (and here i believe we are refering to the predicting of the future). firstly, i think if people are seeking such things, then it's because they are desiring a deeper relationship with God (and these seem to be quick fixes). we need to remember, and share with those in our ranks, that only a personal vibrant relationship with God is going to fill that void, that hunger, that seems to send others out to other churches.
we also need to remember (well my opinion) that serving God faithfully in the small things is just a great a sign of being filled with the spirit as any other sign. one more thing we should remember is that to prophesy is to speak God's truth (fortune telling is just a small part of prophesy - but the most dramatic, hence the attention) and this kind of prophecy happens a lot in the army.
despite all this, i've been there and done that, so i am hopefully not sounding condeming on those who are going through this, but these are just the personal lessons i have leart.
anyway, i've commented long enough, i could on, but i won't.
nice to have found you blog!
